Air Source Heat Pumps for Pubs

Running a pub means heating a building that works hard all day. Bars, dining rooms, function spaces, cellars and washrooms all need warmth, and the kitchen needs hot water from the first delivery to the last glass wash.

We design and install air source heat pumps for licensed premises across South East London and the surrounding areas. Every system is installed to MCS standards using Grant or Vaillant equipment

Why Pubs Are Moving Away from Gas

An air source heat pump pulls heat from the outside air and lifts it to a useful temperature using a compressor. Around 75% of the energy you use comes from the air itself, with the remaining 25% drawn from electricity.

For a building heated seven days a week, that shift matters. Our systems target a 400% SCOP and can cut heating bills by 25 to 40% against a conventional gas system, while lowering the carbon footprint of the premises.

What We Assess Before Quoting

No two pubs heat the same way, so we survey the building properly before we put a price on paper. Our site visit looks closely at the following:

  • Heat loss across trading areas, back of house, cellars and any accommodation above
  • Hot water demand from the kitchen, bar and customer washrooms
  • Siting of the outdoor unit, including noise levels near the beer garden and neighbouring properties
  • Electrical supply capacity and distribution board headroom
  • Condition of existing pipework, radiators and underfloor heating
  • Phasing of the work around opening hours and busy trading periods

From there we produce a full design and a clear quotation. If the building is not ready for a heat pump yet, we will tell you what needs to change first.

Grants, Regulations and Installation

The Boiler Upgrade Scheme covers small non-domestic buildings as well as homes, so many pubs can apply for the £7,500 grant. We are MCS registered and submit the application on your behalf once we have confirmed your property meets the scheme criteria.

We also work alongside builders, architects and developers, which helps when a heat pump forms part of a wider refurbishment. Every system comes with a 7 year warranty and free, unlimited technical phone support after handover.
